MANCHESTER'S LINKS TO DUBAI STRENGTHENED |
This week saw Manchester’s links with Dubai strengthened further thanks to the launch of Emirate’s Airbus A380 service between the two cities. Set to fly one of the two daily flights from the region to the Middle East, the 517-capacity, twin-deck plane landed at Manchester Airport on Wednesday lunchtime, welcomed by a 10,000 strong crowd. The new flight, which joins established routes from Dubai to London Heathrow, Sydney, Auckland, Seoul, Bangkok, Paris and Toronto, is a world first for any regional airport and marks 20 years of operations to Manchester. The A380 increases business class capacity from 42 seats to 76 as well as offering the best first class product in the air. It is understood that demand has outstripped supply on this route for the past four years, as the Middle East has become a major tourist and business destination.

ABSOLUTE REBRANDS AS INTEGRATION WITH ALDERMORE COMPLETES |
Absolute Invoice Finance, the specialist business financier that was acquired in November 2009 by Aldermore, the new British bank, has this week rebranded as Aldermore Invoice Finance.
The relaunch marks nine months under the bank’s ownership for the invoice financier formerly known as Cattles Invoice Finance. It coincides with the business, which has an office in Manchester, recording a 35 per cent surge in new business volumes for the seven months to 31 July 2010, when compared with the same period last year.
Darren Cottenden, regional managing director of Aldermore Invoice Finance in the North West, said: “Rebranding as Aldermore Invoice Finance marks the final step in the integration process and brings the invoice finance division in line with the other areas of the wider Aldermore bank, which comprise commercial mortgages, asset finance, residential mortgages and savings.”
